Fat-free tea-loaf baked in a 2lb loaf tin:
Mix together and soak (in fridge over night):
2oz Wheetabix (cereal bars)
6oz Demerara sugar
6oz Sultanas
½ pint of semi skimmed milk
When ready to cook:
Add and stir in-
7oz SR (self raising) flour
¼ teaspoon of salt
1 egg (medium)
Bake in oven for 1 hour at 160 C (325 F)
I double the recipe and make two loaves at once – and put one in the freezer for later!
Play-dough (not for eating – stores in fridge for several weeks)
2 tea-cups of plain flour (the cheaper the flour the better the dough)
1 tea-cups of table salt
4 teaspoons of Cream of Tatar
2 table spoons of vegetable cooking oil
2 tea-cups of water
Food colourings or flavourings or glitter optional
Mix together in a large pan – and beat – heat gently and keep stirring – eventually you get the most amazing play-dough. It keeps in a plastic bag in the fridge – throw away and replace!
